It is always shocking to me to see how quickly my family goes through Nutella. My twins are downright creative when it comes to applications of the hazelnut spread: making a sandwich on toaster waffles, spreading it onto any kind of fruit, even mixing it into yogurt and smoothies. A large jar may not even get us through a single school week. So I am both intrigued and slightly frightened by the news that my fave Costco is now selling a nearly 7-pound bucket of Nutella for $22. You may wonder what kind of insane Nutella addicts would be in the market for such a tub? Well, my family of four, for one. I can't wait until our next trip to Costco to see if this chocolate vessel could actually get us through the entire month. [Gwen Ihnat]
But can Nutella cure millennial burnout?
I have forwarded Anne Helen Petersen's BuzzFeed essay on millennial burnout to half my social circle, and it's been emailed to me by the other half. While I don't suffer exactly the type of "errand paralysis"—the inability to check tedious tasks off a personal to-do list—that Petersen describes, her distillation of millennial malaise sounded familiar: "[They] internalize the need to find employment that reflects well on their parents (steady, decently paying, recognizable as a "good job") that's also impressive to their peers (at a "cool" company) and fulfills what they've been told has been the end goal of all of this childhood optimization: doing work that you're passionate about." If you're one of the last remaining millennials who hasn't read this piece, remedy that tonight. [Kate Bernot]
