Philly Pizzeria's 7 Seafoods Christmas Pizza: We'd Eat It
Follow our gastronomic transitive property theorem here: If a certain food is tasty, and pizza is tasty, then putting that food on a pizza must also be tasty. We can apply that airtight logic to the seasonal Feast of the Seven Fishes pizza, an annual pie created by Philadelphia's SliCE Pizzeria to replicate the Italian Christmas Eve tradition of the Feast of the Seven Fishes.
The pie is available through Dec. 24 and is topped with clams, mussels, shrimp, tuna, crab meat, and sardine, and anchovies, plus olive oil, garlic, and mozzarella. Though it's a bit indulgent, the pie shouldn't come as too big a surprise from a restaurant that also offers pizzas topped with truffled ribeye steak.
The Philadelphia mini-chain has outposts in Rittenhouse Square, the Italian Market and Fishtown, Philadelphia; plus one in Washington Township, New Jersey. The pescatarian creation isn't cheap, with a small pizza selling for $19 and a large for $26, reports Philly Voice.
Not that you asked, but I would 100 percent eat this pizza. White clam pizza is great, as are anchovies on pizza (in my opinion). I love the specific combo of salt and savory and a touch of oceanic sweetness, so if a pizzeria wants to double down and double down again on the aquatic delights, count me in. I'll just need a quart of mints afterwards, please.
