The delightful Netflix series Nailed It! has offered us two full seasons of amateur bakers who frequently fail spectacularly on national (streaming) television. While many of Nailed It!’s projects appear to require not only extensive baking skills but some sort of art and/or architecture degree, the contestants are usually spirited and game, and the judges, led by winning host Nicole Byer, hilarious but still supportive. Not only is the show a blast to watch, it’ll make you feel tons better about that time you forgot to mix the dry ingredients into the wet and wound up with liquid cookies.

Now, just in time for the most intense baking season of the year, Netflix announces that Nailed It! is returning with a holiday special on December 7. From the looks of things in the trailer, it’s business as usual even in the festive season, with comments like “What is this?”, “It’s so bad,” and “We’re just gonna wing it.” Joining Byer and her fellow judge Jaques Torres will be guest judges like Jason Mantzoukas, Lauren Lapkus, and returning guest and wedding-cake queen Sylvia Weinstock.

Nailed It! is the perfect programming for when you’ve scorched your third pan of sugar cookies in a row. Just pour out some box wine, put your feet up, and laugh with/at your kindred spirit holiday bakers on Nailed It!.

DISCUSSION

The show is terrible. It sets them up for failure with a very tight time constraint, then laughs at how bad they are.  Even professional bakers would struggle in the time allotted.
