Disneyland Has Reinvented The Chocolate Chip Cookie
A relative bargain for the Magic Kingdom, these cookies are a viral sensation.
My brother Frank is a Disney Dad. He loves watching livestreams and videos from the various theme parks and vacations at them with his family. I don't share quite as much Dis-thusiasm, but I'm always interested in his Disney updates, especially if they involve food. In the past few weeks, there have been a growing number of social media posts on TikTok, YouTube, and Threads that all feature a simple but apparently satisfying new Disneyland treat: fresh-baked chocolate chip cookies.
They were introduced late last year, and they're generating lines of park visitors who are queuing up to snag them.
"We got the new Disneyland cookies everyone has been talking about!" Matt Richardson, a community engagement staffer at Raspberry Pi Ltd., posted on Threads. After a 30-minute wait, he declared them to be "much better than most cookies at Disney parks!"
The cookies are available only at Harbour Gallery, a dockside dining spot in Disneyland's Critter Country. Along with the taste, the cookies may be making waves because of their affordable price: Six cookies cost $6.49, and a 13-cookie pack is available at $12.49.
In a review on the Disney Food Blog, writer Robin Burks described the cookies as "fresh, warm, and soft and filled with rich gooey chocolate chips. You know when you eat that first chocolate chip cookie right out of the oven?"
On TikTok, user DisneyDarren called the cookies "a perfect sweet snack" in a post that has nearly 1,500 likes. One of DisneyDarren's followers noted that the cookies sold out by noon. However, you can place a pre-order on the Disneyland mobile food and beverage app and collect your cookies at the cafe.
To be sure, other Disney theme parks boast their own signature cookies. The Grand Floridian Resort & Spa at Disney World is known for its version of the chocolate chip cookie, and Gideon's Bakehouse in Disney Springs often sees people lining up for hours to snag a treat. This fuss is proof that even traditional desserts can be given an irresistible twist, as author Katie Jacobs proved with her chocolate chip cookie cookbook last fall.
