Chrissy Teigen To Add A Considerable Amount Of Coolness To Blue Apron
Chrissy Teigen is famous for many things: fabulous supermodel, powerful and funny Twitter presence, her adorable family with spouse John Legend. But lately, Teigen's obsession has appeared to be food. Her 17 million Instagram followers enjoy her culinary-themed photos of her favorite meals and recipes, which culminated in her 2016 cookbook Cravings: Recipes For All The Food You Want To Eat, featuring her cheesy-cheeseless eggs and her husband's fried chicken with honey butter.
With the sequel of that book set for the fall, Teigen is in the market for marketing efforts, and seems to have found a perfect one: She's hooked up with struggling meal kit service Blue Apron to supply six of her own recipes to distribute. Blue Apron has had its own troubles, facing competition from the Amazon-Whole Foods merger in the realm of food delivery, so much so that it even started selling its kits in stores, a.k.a. grocery shopping.
Teigen has so far only teased one recipe of the six—pork banh mi sandwiches with pickled cucumbers and carrots. But HuffPo has some other suggestions: "Starting the week of June 4, Blue Apron subscribers can look forward to seeing one of Teigen's personal recipes on their menu rotation, like garlic and soy-glazed shrimp with charred broccoli and hot green pepper sauce, and chipotle-lime chicken fajitas with mushrooms, monterey jack and crema."
While we wouldn't be surprised if Blue Apron got a considerable boost this summer from the popular Teigen's involvement, such a lift might only last as long as her special six recipes do. Until the next celebrity chef, anyway.
