Beyoncé™ Shuts Down Biëryoncé Pilsner With A Cease And Desist

Well, Biëryoncé had a good run. Pitchfork reports that the beer released earlier this month by Brooklyn-based Lineup Brewing resulted in a cease and desist request from its namesake and global phenomenon, actual Beyoncé™.

While it's a bummer that we'll no longer be able to tote new cans of this pilsner around in our bags (swag), the cease and desist isn't a big deal for Lineup. The small brewery got its 15 minutes of fame when national publications, including this one, wrote about the punny beer. It's similar to the (good-natured) cease and desist Anheuser-Busch InBev recently delivered to Modist Brewing over the small brewery's Dilly Dilly beer.

For some small breweries, the publicity sparked by a cease and desist can actually generate more attention than a beer could on its own. We eagerly await news of the next refreshing, trademark-infringing ale to come our way.
