Experience
Melissa has been a writer for over a decade and a foodie since she was young. Growing up in a family of chefs and bakers, it was no surprise she felt right at home working in restaurants when she moved to Manhattan to attend Fordham University. Her first publications were in psychology and the history of New York, which eventually evolved into food writing. Simultaneously, Melissa hired and educated bartenders in significant cities in the US and wrote a bartending training manual for the restaurant group. Between writing and working in hospitality, she sought out the city's top restaurants and niche hole-in-the-wall eateries and enjoyed countless remarkable meals and cocktails. In addition to writing, Melissa loves reading; her favorite texts are menus. Today, she is entirely focused on food writing and cooking meals made with local Long Island ingredients for her children, who are the harshest critics.
Education
Melissa has a Bachelor of Science degree in psychology from Fordham University.
