Expertise
Foodie Travel, Healthy Cooking, Comfort Food
- Matt has roughly a decade of front-of-house restaurant experience, including catering and bartending.
- An avid traveler, his favorite part of every trip is finding a restaurant only locals would be found at. (Highlights include Aggies Bar & Grill in Grenada, Il Cernacchio in Florence, Italy, and Pivovarský dům Benedict in Prague, Czech Republic.)
- Matt believes that life is all about balance, so he splits his time in the kitchen between making high-protein, low-calorie lunches that he prepares for the week and more decadent comfort foods on the weekends.
Experience
Matt began as an editorial intern for Luxury Travel Advisor before being hired as an associate editor, where he oversaw its website, print magazine, and social channels. In 2020, he took over the company's other two travel industry publications, Travel Agent Central and Meeting Spotlight, overseeing all content as well as attending in-person industry events, hosting panels, and presenting in-house research to attendees. In this role, Matt is fortunate to travel most months of the year to experience luxury hotels, restaurants of all calibers, and everything else a destination may have to offer. Prior to his career in travel, he wrote for several sports publications, including Rant Sports, Scout.com (now 247sports.com), and several local magazines and newspapers. In his writing career, he has interviewed top travel industry executives, including hotel general managers, top chefs from around the world, and future Major League Baseball players.
Education
Matt graduated from Binghamton University in 2014 with a bachelor's degree in English: general literature and rhetoric. His first writing experience was with the university's newspaper, Pipe Dream, where he covered sports.
