Experience

Jonita Davis is an award-winning reporter, published author, and freelance writer with over 16 years of writing experience in print and the Internet. She started in 2008 writing about local people and events for the Laporte County Herald Argus in Indiana. From there, her work went digital, and she wrote for various websites such as e-How, USA Today, and more. After earning her master's degree in 2015, she started writing about entertainment, parenting, news, and social justice and how those topics intersected with pop culture. In 2018, Jonita added film critic to her title while writing and reviewing movies for Black Girl Nerds, the Washington Post, The Guardian, Romper, and other publications. After the pandemic, she spent time as a travel news writer and then in an actual print newsroom as a reporter. She currently works as a freelance writer combining her love of film, food, news, and pop culture into stories that appear all over the internet. Jonita is the author of four books. She has also taught writing at Purdue, Aurora University, and Waubonsee Community College. She is currently at the University of Denver.
