Aldi's German Week Is Returning (And It's Chock Full Of Fan Favorites)

Starting May 8, Aldi will stock its shelves with authentic and specialty German favorites.

Aldi fans look forward to the grocery chain's theme weeks. Whether it be Spanish, Italian, or Asian Week, the chain fills its shelves with specialty products for limited runs at certain times of the year. But of all the chain's themed weeks, the excitement behind German Week is arguably unmatched.

Aldi typically has two German Weeks per year, one in May and one in September, although the chain had three German Weeks in 2023. Starting May 8, Aldi fans should prep their reusable bags for some fan-favorite German treats. Not only is Aldi offering 23 items from its homeland, all fan favorites, but the products are also discounted in price, ranging from under $2 to $9.99 for German Week.

What to expect from Aldi’s German Week

The items returning for this May's German Week are all sold under the Deutsche Küche brand label, which is exclusive to Aldi and only available at its U.S. stores. Highlights include the Bavarian Soft Pretzels and Pretzel Sticks ($4.79 each), chicken schnitzel ($9.99), and herring fillets (a very affordable $1.69).

German Week at Aldi will also bring some sweet and (mostly) authentic desserts. Spritz and doppelino cookies are two sweet treats shoppers will be able to find on shelves, as well as orange- and strawberry-flavored jaffa cakes. (Yes, we know jaffa cakes are originally from the U.K.) But the true gem of desserts that dedicated Aldi fans will be tearing through aisles for comes in the form of indulgent cakes. Deutsche Küche's Bienenstich Indulgent Cakes consist of vanilla-flavored mousse sandwiched between two layers of golden cake and topped with honeyed almond flakes.

Whether you're looking for savory or sweet German tastes, time is of the essence, as German Week ends May 14. Don't let the bienenstich and schnitzel pass you by.
