Big Beer Sends A Half-Million Cans Of Water For Hurricane Florence Relief

As the Mid-Atlantic eastern coast of the U.S. prepares for monster storm Hurricane Florence to reach landfall, some aid efforts are already underway. For example, USA Today reports that in an effort to aid the American Red Cross and other relief efforts, Anheuser-Busch and Miller Coors are sending cans of water to the about-to-be-affected area, to the tune of 300,000 and 200,000, respectively.

USA Today notes that both of these Big Beer companies have a history of this kind of generosity, as A-B has sent "cans of water to Puerto Rico and across the U.S. in response to wildfires, floods and hurricanes." The company ran a Budweiser ad during the 2018 Super Bowl showing how its breweries can easily switch from canning beer to canning water in times of emergency.

MillerCoors, which has 80 pallets of water en route to the Red Cross and and community shelters right now, "has in the recent past donated more than 550,000 cans of water to Texas, Florida, Puerto Rico and the Caribbean after hurricanes." It's enough to make you put down that craft beer and pick up a Bud or Coors Light for a change.
