Indie music geeks have long regarded Neutral Milk Hotel’s In The Aeroplane Over The Sea as a lo-fi masterpiece. Released 20 years ago this month, the album would go on to inspire a rock-folk genre not limited to guitar-bass-drums, but euphoniums, banjos, and singing saws (see The Decemberists, Sufjan Stevens).

The album is beloved and defended by many, so leave it to ready-sliced frozen meat purveyors Steak-umm to troll NMH fans, desecrating the iconic album art with a shittily Photoshopped low-res image of its corporate, market-researched logo.

Great work poking a sleeping bear, Steak-umm Twitter—did you really want your replies to be a vomit of links to 20,000-word Pitchfork think pieces?

Related: It would be a big waste of branding opportunism if he didn’t immediately change his name to Jeff Mang-umm.

Kevin Pang was the founding editor of The Takeout, and director of the documentary For Grace.
