I’ll cop to it: I spent a not-insignificant amount of time staring at this £10 box of fried food that’s made the rounds on Twitter. Like other observers, I had questions, namely: What are those round disks in the middle? Surely not crab cakes or fried green tomatoes, but what? Deep-fried cheeseburgers? Perhaps a chicken patty? Is this a Scottish thing? Here I go again, spending more time staring at this. [Kate Bernot]

Wot! No saveloys?
It’s from a shop called East West Spice in Greenock, Renfrewshire.
The “Crunchy Box” has 6,792 calories worth of nosh. It contains chips, fish, two pizza bits, two sausages, two hamburgers, onion rings, chicken nuggets and fritters. All of which is battered.
Bahadur Singh, the manager of the Greenock shop, told the Mirror:
“I just thought it would be nice to combine the ideas and bring something which would appeal to everyone.
“We put the deal on and people seem to love it. Everything is cooked in fat but the dish is big enough for three or four people to share.
“It’s definitely for the family to eat. People think it’s a great deal.”
Happy to go and sample it if you cover my expenses:)
