Last Call: 3 Things To Watch Other Than Election Night Coverage
It's finally election night, and you know what? All the channel-flipping and website refreshing isn't going to make those results appear any faster. Maybe instead of driving yourself crazy before all the polls are closed, you can distract yourself with some fun, friendly binge viewing. I recommend afterlife comedy The Good Place, still unparalleled in its third season, as Ted Danson and Kristen Bell lead a stellar cast of imperfect mortals and the immortal beings who love them. It's smart, thought-provoking, and straight-up hilarious. This season's episodes are available on Hulu; seasons one and two are on Netflix. Watching The Good Place also might lead you to consider even a bigger picture than your local elections. (I know, they're super-important, I'm just throwing that out there.) [Gwen Ihnat]
Suspiria
Luca Guadagnino's remake of Dario Argento's 1977 Suspiria opened this past weekend, and still in the Halloween mood, I saw it Saturday night. It offered lots of visual and thematic food for thought (read The A.V. Club's Katie Rife's thoughtful Q&A with Jessica Harper and screenwriter David Kajganich after you've already seen it) but it's also just hauntingly beautiful—in a horrorifying way. This former modern dance student especially enjoyed the choreography. [Kate Bernot]
Rowan Atkinson Live
I've watched this 1991 stand-up special from Rowan Atkinson, best known for his title roles on Blackadder and Mr. Bean, more than any other. If Election Night 2018 is stressing you out, turn this on and turn off your brain, man. Be sure to stay past the credits for his air-drumming routine. [Kevin Pang]
